  1. First of all congratulation for the great work and the efforts you are putting in this project.
    Unfortunately I have to report some problems I have been experiencing since ver. 0.2.7.
    I would like to report the whole story and details to the bug-tracker, but the server seems to be dead, I only get a blank page. I have originally installed 0.2.5 and then updated via web gui to all newer release, but was getting worse and worse, so I decided to start from scrach with a cleat installation from Boot CD with ver.0.3. installed, reconfigured Manually shares and users. Everything was working fine…for about 1 h, then again seerver error., reboots, connection loss during file transfer. Pluged in the older USB stick with ver. 2.5 (I’m glad I still had a backup copy of it) EVERYTHING back to normal…..I backed up all my files without any issue, transmission is working and does not crash. Well this older version still has some bugs, but at least can be used. I’m available to document the problems with the newer release…just let me know waht you need.

    • Hello Mastro59,

      sorry for the problems with the bugtracker, but Sourceforge seems to have some bigger problems with its hosted apps (like the OMV bugtracker and forum).

      Do you use an USB stick as boot device? If so, may it be possible that the stick is damage? Your problems sounds to me like filesystems problems or anyrhing that may occured by an defective USB stick.

      • You’r right, I didn’t think about this. This is was a brand new USB 4 Gig memory, while the first i nstallation was done on a very old 2Gig stick. Anyway, I will copy the working 0.2.5 distribution to the USB memory that is causing all this problems. and will let you know.

      • Good news, the forum is back on line. I have seen quite a number of other people having my same problem…all with USB flash disks!! I do not believe in coincidences.
        I was not able to test the using another USB stick, I’m still backing up the 2Tbyte of data. Instead I have tested the USB stick with Flash test 1.4, so far no R/W errors, all sectors are ok. I got few hang ups on the USB memory with ver duirng the backup. My server is using 1 Gbyte of ram. I noticed that the used memory starts at 20-%-30% at boot up but keeps growing until reaches 98% Is this normal? Why is it gorowing constantly? When ram is all used I guess the OS will start paging on the swap partition, just a guess, untill even this one is all used, then waht cpould happen? . Is there a way to monitor the amount of free space available on the USB memory?
        The last possibility is the main board, probaly the USB port not working well, HW problem, Bios…who knows. Before I trash the MB I guess I have to do more tests. Any suggestion?

            at this point what is left?
            USB flash is not corrupted
            memory 1 GB seems ok
            OMV bug or HW problem on my MB (whihc works well with ver 0.2.5)
            What can I do to check if the problems are related to OMV or to the HW ( MB)?

              • some good news:
                Have created a new clean boot disk (USB flash 8 Gbyte) with ver.
                working perfectly without a single error for about 2 hous….
                Memory is stable at 16%….I re-sized the swap partition to 2 Gbyte (800Mbyte of RAM is cashed to swap file).
                This confirms OMV (at leat ver can not be responsible of all the problems mentioned above.
                I’m wandering any how if this could be the real problem: USB flash disk have a limited number or write cycles. OMV can run with 1 GB oif RAM, (like in may case) but then OS may be reading and wraiting to the swap partition too often ….wearing out the USB disk…..
                this explains why I had problems only after several months…..

  2. Send Test Email fails with the following error:
    Invalid method parameter: Array is not an object.
    Error #2003:
    exception ‘OMVException’ with message ‘Invalid method parameter: Array is not an object.’ in /usr/share/php/openmediavault/rpc.inc:289
    Stack trace:

    #5 /var/www/openmediavault/rpc.php(43): OMVJsonRpcServer->handle()
    #6 {main}

    Emails from system seem to work okay.

    Also – downloaded iso image (2x), but cannot get it to work. Apache2 and OPENMEDIAVAULT packages seem to be missing after installation has completed

  3. After upgrading to this Beta version I can not log in to the Webinterface anymore:

    Error #2003:
    exception ‘OMVException’ with message ‘Invalid method parameter: Array is not an object.’ in /usr/share/php/openmediavault/rpc.inc:289
    Stack trace:
    #0 /var/www/openmediavault/rpc/authentication.inc(52): OMVRpc->validateParams(‘AuthenticationR…’, Array)

    #3 /usr/share/php/openmediavault/rpc.inc(97): OMVRpc::exec(‘Authentication’, ‘login’, Array)
    #4 /var/www/openmediavault/rpc.php(43): OMVJsonRpcServer->handle()
    #5 {main}

    Is this a known issue, if yes, how can I fix?
    omv-firstaid was already executed (changed the admin password) but situation is unchanged
